Who's next to lead Pasco's Ridgewood High School?
Pasco schools superintendent Heather Fiorentino wants to get a new principal in place at Ridgewood High School before Thanksgiving break, so it can continue its efforts unimpeded to improve student performance.
That means making a choice quickly, to ensure it's ready for the School Board's Nov. 20 meeting. So the district compressed its application process, with a Thursday deadline and interviews today. The candidates are:
- Michael Cloyd, assistant principal at Anclote High
- Shawn Hohenthaner, assistant principal at Sunlake High
- Angie Murphy, assistant principal at Mitchell High
Hohenthaner was an assistant principal at Ridgewood until 2010, moving to Sunlake a year after the school began implementing structural changes because it had been placed on the state's lowest performing schools list. Murphy worked in the district office before moving to Mitchell a couple of years ago. She and Cloyd have been in the district's leadership training program. Hohenthaner completed the district's Preparing New Principals program in 2008.
Ridgewood needs a new principal because Fiorentino transferred Andy Frelick to run Zephyrhills High on Wednesday.
