Crist adviser urges Gov. Scott to veto budget over teacher pay
Former Democratic state Sen. Dan Gelber, who's advising Charlie Crist these days, is urging Gov. Rick Scott to veto the Legislature's budget if it doesn't adequately fund teacher pay and Medicaid expansion.
In a letter to the governor, Gelber called Scott's push for a $2,500 raises for all Florida teachers, "at least a start" and the legislature's decision "to index the limited funds that are being made available to a faulty merit-pay proposal is offensive." He said Scott has a "duty" to veto the budget.
