Don't ask to use Land O'Lakes High School for a while
At the center of Pasco County, and adjacent to the school district headquarters, Land O'Lakes High School often serves as a location for events, activities and meetings.
Starting in June, the school won't be available for such arrangements, except for the Culinary Academy. The reason: A major school renovation.
Principal Ric Mellin sent a message to district leaders this week reminding them they'd need to make other accommodations.
"Over the course of two years, one-quarter of the campus will be completely shut down on a rotating basis in order to construct new facilities and renovate existing spaces," Mellin wrote. "The school will not have the ability to meet requests for meetings, fairs, or trainings."
Students will continue to attend Land O'Lakes during the construction. Parents complained when administrators contemplated shutting down the school for a year.
