Edgecomb: Office space? No thank you.
A postscript to this blogpost on the new Hillsborough County School Board offices: Member Doretha Edgecomb does not like the idea.
"I am not in agreement with that," said Edgecomb, annoyed that she learned only recently that she and the others will soon be given individual offices on the second floor of the administration building. Not even for the bargain price of $40,000, she said Thursday. "I don't find it acceptable for the taxpayers to spend any money on office space that we do not use on a regular basis."
Edgecomb is speaking out at a time of vastly conflicting accounts about the move and what it will cost. Social media sites are using the figure $600,000. An early estimate by the administration put the price at $428,000, including the hiring of four additional secretaries.
But district spokeswoman Tanya Arja says the district is capping the rennovations at $40,000, looking for donated furniture and staying with the current arrangement of three secretaries for all seven members.
