FAMU narrows down presidential candidates to two
Two candidates will visit Florida A&M University Wednesday to meet with constituency groups ahead of the Board of Trustees final vote to possibly select one of them as the university's next president.
Although both remaining finalists received widespread support from members of the search committee, a former national alumni association president and a former university president lobbied lobbied in favor of keeping interim President Larry Robinson.
The committee hasn't indicated it will make Robinson and candidate, and he hasn't lobbied to remain on the job.
The two remaining finalists are:
- Elmira Mangum, vice president for budget and planning at Cornell University
- John Price, former founding president of University of North Texas at Dallas
They were selected from the four finalists who the search committee interviewed today. Initially there were supposed to be six, but two of them backed out over the weekend.
FAMU's Board of Trustees plans to select the next university president on Thursday.
