FAU naming rights deal with prison company falls apart
The GEO Group has withdrawn its offer to pay Florida Atlantic University $6 million for 12 years of football stadium naming rights, the Sun-Sentinel reports.
The private company that operates prisons in Florida drew nationwide attention when its agreement with FAU was announced. Students and other activists criticized the deal and accused GEO Group of human rights violations.
The Sun-Sentinel reports that the company will instead donate $500,000 to FAU.
