Gov. Scott appoints new SPC trustee

For the first time in several years, St. Petersburg College has a full board of trustees.

Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Lauralee Westine - the wife of Pinellas Sheriff Bob Gualtieri - to the trustee board, the college announced Friday. Her term runs through May 2017.

Westine, 42, lives in Palm Harbor and is an attorney with Lauralee Westine Law Offices PA. Since leaving the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office 14 years ago, Westine has been zoning and permitting cell towers throughout Florida. She has a law degree and a master's in business from Stetson.

SPC's board hasn't had five trustees in quite some time. Tampa Bay Business Journal president and publisher Bridgette Bello came on board in May to fill a vacant seat. But at the same time, trustee Terrence Brett decided to let his term run out, creating another empty seat.

The Florida Senate holds the official stamp to confirm Westine's appointment.
