How does a virtual school participate in the Great American Teach-In?
Classes across Florida generally suspend lessons for the day when the Great American Teach-In arrives, their rooms filled with visitors who talk about careers, hobbies and other interests that might become part of a student's future.
Virtual education offers a different set of circumstances. Kids don't have to be in a building, or even online, at any given time. Can the Teach-In work?
Pasco eSchool held the event virtually last year, using teleconferencing to interview architects, authors, actors and more. And it's getting ready to do the same this year. It has invited speakers from across the community to participate.
"We'll use Google Hangouts, so you won't even need to leave your home or office to visit an actual brick-and-mortar school," principal JoAnne Glenn said.
