Jason Pepe is back in Hillsborough district communications
Jason Pepe, who moved this year into a governmental relations job for the Hillsborough County School District, is back in the communications department on an interim basis, assisting the staff in the aftermath of Tuesday's dismissal of communications chief T.G. Taylor.
Pepe, a longtime district employee and onetime principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary School, ran the internal communications department under Superintendent MaryEllen Elia. After Elia was fired and Jeff Eakins replaced her, Pepe consolidated that staff with the department that communicates with the public and the media.
Tanya Arja will continue to be the primary contact with reporters. Raymond Padgett, former principal of Pierce Middle School, is also working in communications, primarily with the marketing end and Newsdesk, the district's online news site.
