Lakewood High students win technology award
Two students at Lakewood High School have received awards that recognize young women for achievements in computing.
Sheridan Bishop and Tiffney Kitaratanasumpun earned the 2013 North Central Florida NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. Students are selected for the award for their "outstanding aptitude and interest in information technology," along with their leadership skills, academic strength and plans for college or career. Both students attend the Center for Advanced Technologies at Lakewood.
The awards, which will be given at a ceremony in April, are intended to encourage young women to choose technology careers.
Pete Oberg, the CAT program's coodinator, put out this statement: "Sheridan and Tiffney are excellent examples of what our students can accomplish through dedication, guidance and vision."
He called it a "wonderful accomplishment."
