Land O'Lakes High School principal to be named to Florida Education Practices Commission

Ric Mellin, principal of Land O'Lakes High School since 2009, is set to become the newest member of the Florida Education Practices Commission.

Mellin would be the only Pasco County member of the 25-person board, which hears and rules on cases of educator misconduct. By law, the panel includes five school administrators, eight teachers, five law enforcement officers, five parents and two former school board members.

Mellin, who lives in Wesley Chapel, also is an adjunct professor at Pasco Hernando State College Education Preparation Institute. His nomination goes to the State Board of Education on Thursday.
