Liberty County gets new superintendent
Gov. Rick Scott has picked one of Liberty County's past superintendents to run the district in place of recently elected Gloria Gay Uzzell, whom he suspended in July. Uzell, an upset candidate for the post, was arrested on accusations that she misused a district credit card to buy personal items.
Anthony Anderson, who served as the district's superintendent from 2000-2004, will serve as interim leader while Uzzell deals with the felony charges. A 30-year educator, Anderson has also been a teacher and principal. Most recently, he has worked at the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium.
Anderson's term began Thursday and does not have an end date.
