Listen to Florida Board school grades debate online
Want to hear the Florida Board of Education deliberate over whether it will change its school grading formula again this year?
The Department of Education is encouraging parties that want to listen to, but not participate in, the board's 10 a.m. Tueday conference call meeting to log in online instead of calling in. The meeting will be webcast on the department website.
Spokeswoman Cheryl Etters explained that the department does not want to discourage anyone from accessing the meeting. But it has secured only a set number of lines for the call.
History is serving as a guide. In May 2012, more than 800 people called in for the board's emergency meeting on FCAT writing scores. Public comment lasted longer than an hour.
