New Florida high school graduation requirements become law



Gov. Rick Scott signed into law Monday a sweeping bill that changes Florida's high school graduation requirements, establish preeminent research university status and also create an online higher education center at an existing university.

"SB 1076 will make sure our children are prepared for college and careers," Scott said at the morning bill signing, adding that the move would help fill the more than 260,000 job openings in Florida.
