New principal named for Pasco's James Irvin Education Center
A familiar face will return to the James Irvin Education Center in Dade City this month, with the appointment of Cloty Davis as the alternative school's new principal.
Davis, whose appointment goes to the School Board on Tuesday, was a teacher at Irvin a decade ago. She later became an administrator, leaving her post as a Land O'Lakes High assistant principal a few years back to lead Town and Country Charter High School.
Superintendent Kurt Browning has selected Davis to take over for Nancy Guss, who retired. Davis is married to former assistant superintendent Jim Davis, who ran the Irvin center from 2004-2005.
If the School Board approves the move, Cloty Davis will officially take the job on Feb. 8.
The district still has one other principal post vacancy, at Mitchell High School. Assistant principals will take care of day-to-day business after Jim Michaels departs at the end of this week, while the district seeks Michaels' replacement.
