New residence hall opens at University of Tampa
The University of Tampa’s new residence hall, West Kennedy Hall, celebrated its grand opening today.
The 11-story dorm building, located on Kennedy Bouleveard near North Boulevard, is the school's biggest hall yet, with room for 528 students, plus two large multipurpose rooms, two two-story lofts for townhouse-style living and a solar thermal array on the roof to heat water. The building has an "international" theme with more than 100 pieces of photography and art pieces from around the world.
This is the seventh new residence hall built on the UT campus in the last 15 years. The campus is located on 105 acres on downtown Tampa's riverfront. Out of the school's 7,200 students, about 65 percent live on campus.
