Newest Pasco County high school picks its mascot
When Cypress Creek Middle-High School sends its teams to square off against cross-town rivals, students will cheer the Coyotes.
That's the mascot students voted for, after the School Board set boundaries to determine exactly who would attend the new school on Old Pasco Road. Lists of rezoned children went to principals earlier this week.
Principal Carin Hetzler-Nettles has said she plans to involve students in several decisions in the run up to the school's fall debut, in order to begin creating a sense of community where none existed before. Meetings with students and parents are in the offing, so everyone can get to know what Cypress Creek will provide.
In the meantime, Hetzler-Nettles has advertised several posts at the school, including secretaries, administrators and even the football coach. Teaching jobs are expected to open later in the spring.
