'Our kids are not test dummies': Miami Beach Senior High PTSA
As the parent pushback intensifies against consequences attached to Florida testing, the Miami Beach Senior High PTSA has called upon its members to blitz Gov. Rick Scott and other government leaders with a request to halt the use of 2015 spring results.
It's even offered some suggested wording for those who care but haven't kept pace with all the details. The key points are summarized at the end:
"Is it fair that these test scores, based on inadequate responses and testing administration crashes, will be used to evaluate teachers or issue school grades?
"We do not know how these issues will be resolved for the current school year or in the near future. We highly suggest that the FLDOE go back to paper testing until it can be proven that these tests can successfully be administered to a large number of students online. As long as American Institutes for Research (AIR) is administering these tests, we personally will be demanding that our children take paper and pen tests for the rest of their public school careers. The internet infrastructure of the state's public school system is not adequate for these test.
"Our kids are not test dummies as they were treated by the State of Florida this year. They, nor their teachers or schools, should not be held accountable for test scores resulting from crashes."
