Pasco district employees to have pay raise party
Pasco County school district employees will see their first raises in six years appear in their paychecks on Nov. 22.
The United School Employees of Pasco has scheduled a celebration to mark the day. The group has planned an after school get-together at the Groves Golf and Country Club in Land O'Lakes.
One of the highlights will be union vice president Kenny Blankenship's haircut. Blankenship has grown a ponytail to his shoulder blades in the time since the district's last raises, saying he wouldn't cut it off until the district increases salaries again.
He's collecting $10 contributions to the USEP scholarship fund for a raffle to have the chance to chop off the ponytail, which he will then donate to Locks of Love. Blankenship is calling it the "mane event." Naturally.
