Pasco School Board law firm seeks pay raise
In its various forms, the law firm McClain, Alfonso and Meeker P.A. has served the Pasco County School Board for decades.
With the exception of last year, when it got a 3 percent raise, the firm has operated under the same contractual terms negotiated two superintendents ago.
Entering the third year of a three-year contract, the group is again requesting its annual renewal, along with another 3 percent increase. Board members have joked about looking around, but more seriously have asked member Allen Altman to talk with lead lawyer Dennis Alfonso about firm services and district needs.
Altman is expected to make a report to the board within a month, as they consider the contract extension. Next year, when the full agreement is up for review, Alfonso said he expects bigger changes.
"Next year we'll probably do a lot of stuff, if they want us there more," he said. "That seems to be the recurring theme, they want us available more to staff."
The board meets Nov. 17.
