Pasco School Board set to expel student
The only reason we note this expulsion is because they happen so infrequently in Pasco County schools.
This one, of a Hudson High School student for "serious violations" of the student code of conduct, marks just the second to come to the School Board during this 2015-16 academic year.
One Gulf High student was expelled earlier this year, while one Bayonet Point Middle student received the district's only bus expulsion. Twenty-three students, meanwhile, have received changes of placement in lieu of expulsions.
District officials continue to look for ways to reduce suspensions, as well, in addition to making consequences more consistent from school to school for code violations. The School Board will look at a revised discipline matrix Tuesday afternoon during its workshop on the 2016-17 code of conduct.
It will be the board's final session in Training Room C, with plans to return to its regular board room in April. The board also will consider official termination of its school resource officer contract with the city of Zephyrhills, and a revision of its deal with the Sheriff's Office, which takes over services at Stewart Middle and Zephryhills High.
