Pasco school district prepares to open a behavioral school on west side
The proliferation of programs for students with severe emotional and behavior disabilities has become a challenge for several Pasco County schools.
In an effort to streamline the service, the district plans to open a new school solely for those students, on the Richey Elementary School campus in New Port Richey.
It will serve students in West Pasco.
"Consolidating these students on one site will better serve these students and provide a greater opportunity to use our limited resources more efficiently," superintendent Kurt Browning told the School Board in an email.
The school district has advertised for a principal. The site is scheduled to open in the fall.
