Pasco schools to close early because of tropical storm
Threats of winds up to 70 mph by 3 p.m. have prompted the Pasco County school district to close all schools early Monday.
Schools that usually begin classes around 7:30 a.m. will let out at 10:30 a.m..
Those that begin around 8:30 a.m. will let out at 11:30 a.m.
Those that start around 9:30 a.m. will let out at 12:30 p.m.
All district employees will be released at 2 p.m.
District spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said the decision was made to close early in order to make sure all buses are off the road before the worst of the weather.
UPDATE: Pinellas County schools will close 90 minutes early. Other area school districts have not changed their release schedules.
