Education news and notes from Tampa Bay and Florida

Pasco students should receive state test results this week

26

October

Plans to get students and families their Florida Standards Assessment reports are in the final stages for Pasco County schools.

The district received all the reports from the state last week, as promised. Now the district has to get all the documents to the right place, before distributing them.

Because the results are arriving several months later than in the past, the district has to deal with transmitting reports for those children who moved schools. It's also only getting one copy per student per test, so the schools will be making copies to keep in student files before handing them out.

They're expected to be distributed this week.

The value of the reports remains limited, as they show the percentile rankings that compare performance to the rest of the state, but they do not give any indication of how students did compared to the state standards. The Florida Board of Education will be discussing cut score proposals on Wednesday, but is not scheduled to adopt those until later this winter.
