Pasco students won't make up day missed for Hurricane Matthew
Pasco County students will not have to make up the third day they missed this fall because of hurricane warnings.
With just minor adjustments to their regular schedule, the schools will have provided enough instruction for the fall semester without a makeup day for Oct. 7, district spokeswoman Linda Cobbe said. The district has scheduled two days during the Thanksgiving break, if needed.
In an email to parents and employees, superintendent Kurt Browning advised that the district cannot absorb another missed day and still meet statutory requirements. If school is canceled again, he wrote, the district "will have no choice but to schedule a make-up day on Monday, November 21, 2016."
