Pasco's Gulfside Elementary School to get new principal
Pasco County's Gulfside Elementary School will need a new principal.
Lane Morris, the school's leader for the past year, has submitted his resignation, effective April 5. He is leaving for personal reasons.
Morris took over Gulfside when the past principal was removed amid allegations of inappropriate behavior. He had been the school's assistant principal, and had been considered to lead Quail Hollow Elementary before the promotion.
Morris became a teacher in 1998, moving to Pasco County in 2001. He became a guidance counselor in 2004, and later became assistant principal at Wesley Chapel Elementary. Morris moved to Kentucky for five years, and returned to Pasco in 2014.
The district has not advertised the position. Gulfside is a school facing increased accountability requirements because of low student performance on state testing.
