Pasco's Wesley Chapel Elementary School gets new principal

Stanley Mykita has been chosen to lead Wesley Chapel Elementary School for the new academic year, Pasco County district officials tell the Gradebook.

Mykita, 53, has worked for the district since 2003, when he joined the system from Hillsborough County schools. Most recently, he has served as assistant principal at San Antonio Elementary, where he twice served as interim leader.

He also was an assistant principal at Cox Elementary School.

Mykita replaces Aimee Mielke, who held the post only briefly after a transfer from Connerton Elementary, where former Wesley Chapel principal John Abernathy moved. Mielke recently accepted an assistant principal position at Watergrass Elementary, citing personal reasons for the switch.

The recommendation goes to the School Board for approval later today. It is the last principal vacancy remaining in the Pasco district.
