Pay raises for Pinellas teachers scheduled for February 2016
At long last, Pinellas County public school teachers will get their pay raises on Feb. 5, 2016.
The average 4 percent raise, made possible by the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association ratification vote held last week, will amount to $1,689 and $2,102 for most district instructional staff. The pay will be retroactive to July 1, 2015.
District spokeswoman Lisa Wolf said between the delayed ratification vote, the requirement of getting W2 tax forms to teachers by January and the district's two-week winter break, raises couldn't be distributed to teachers on the two pay scales (performance and grandfathered) before the end of 2015.
"February 5th was just the absolute first day we could get it done for them," she said.
