Pinellas County Schools holding a job fair for teachers
The Pinellas County School District is holding an invitation-only job fair for teachers as part of its effort to recruit the best teachers.
The job fair is scheduled for June 13. To get an invitation, job candidates need to fill out a job fair "interest form" and an application. Both are available online here. Candidates also will be asked for two letters of reference, college transcripts and a copy of their out of state teaching certificate, if they're coming from outside Florida.
Superintendent Mike Grego has said he wanted to hold a job fair earlier in the year to recruit the best teachers before they get snapped up by other school districts. Although enrollment is shrinking in Pinellas, the district typically hires 300 to 400 teachers every year because of natural vacancies from resignations and retirements.
The school district already has some teacher openings posted here. District officials also will be hiring throughout the summer so not getting an invitation to the job fair doesn't mean a candidate won't get hired by the district.
