Pinellas School Board member Janet Clark headed back to school
One week from today, 100,000 Pinellas County students will be back in school after Thanksgiving break -- and one former Pinellas County School Board member.
Janet Clark, who called it quits after serving 12 years on the board, is returning to the classroom on Nov. 28 as support facilitation at Bay Point Middle. Her job is similar to the post she left at Meadowlawn Middle in 2004: she'll mostly be teaching math and working with special needs students in mainstream classes and pulling out students for small group exercises.
Clark's salary will be $45,315. That's slightly more than a School Board member salary of $42,222, but when Clark was voted on to the board over a decade ago, she took a leave of absence and remained on the school district's salary schedule.
A lot has changed since 2004, but Clark says she's up for the challenge. She toured the school on Friday and met with a few administrators and a teacher she'll be working with.
"Things have changed in 12 years," she said. "I've never used a smart board before."
