Pinellas School Board to host legislative breakfast
The Pinellas County School Board is hosting the annual legislative breakfast Wednesday.
Board members and other community members hope to present their biggest concerns and issues to the delegation ahead of the 2014 session. Many of their issues are related to money. They would like to see a return to pre-Great Recession era level funding. They would like school districts to get PECO dollars. Those dollars, which are for capital projects, have gone to charter schools in recent years.
The School Board also is supporting all-day pre-kindergarten and greater accountability for private schools that receive vouchers or tax-credit scholarships. See the rest of their agenda here.
The breakfast starts at 8 a.m. Wednesday at pTEC Clearwater, 6100 154th Ave. N, Clearwater. The doors open at 7:30 a.m.
