Pinellas' Summer Bridge registration opens this month
Registration for Summer Bridge, Pinellas County's method of reducing students' "summer slide," opens Feb. 27.
The program, which was created in 2013 to catch struggling students of all grades up to speed and keep good students on track, has expanded to 42 elementary school sites, 15 middle school sites and 19 high school sites. Last year, nearly 12,000 students attended the four-day weeks out of 17,000 who enrolled.
Summer Bridge is back to a six-week program between June 6 to July 13. The program was cut short because school had an earlier start date in the fall. There will be no classes on July 3 and 4 this year.
High school juniors and seniors will have a chance to prepare for the SAT in school computer labs using Khan Academy's SATpractice.org site. Summer Bridge registration is not required for SAT practice.
