Pinellas, teachers union reach tentative agreement on raises



Pinellas County Schools and the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association have reached a tentative agreement to provide a 5.6 percent raise for teachers on average and to bump up starting teacher salaries to $40,000 a year.

The agreement could make Pinellas tops in the Tampa Bay region for starting teacher pay. Hillsborough and Hernando counties still are negotiating; Pasco County has reached a tentative agreement to pay its starting teachers $37,000 a year. 

The agreement still is subject to approval by the School Board and union ratification.
