Pinellas to hold first session on special programs this week
Now is the time to start learning about the application process for special programs in Pinellas County.
The school district has scheduled several events for parents to learn about district application programs - magnets, fundamentals and the like - and the timeline to apply. Three sessions will focus only on the application process and timeline. The first is from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Boca Ciega High.
Two other upcoming sessions will focus on the process. Both are at 6:30 p.m., with the first on Nov. 12 at Pinellas Park High, and the second on Nov. 14 at Countryside High.
There also are two events for parents interested in talking to school representatives about specific programs. Those are 9 a.m. to noon, Nov. 16, at Pinellas Park High, and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 19 at Gibbs High.
Open houses for individual schools, called Discovery Nights, will be held in November, December and January. Those have been posted to the district's website and individual school websites.
The application period for special programs will open Jan. 8 and close Jan. 17.
