Pinellas's tool to find substitute teachers impacted by storm
The online system Pinellas County Schools uses to find substitute teachers was down this morning, causing concern that classrooms would be left untended.
Last night's storm knocked out SubFinder's network connection, district spokeswoman Melanie Marquez Parra said. Schools and substitutes were notifies at 7:20 a.m. about the issue, and network administrators had fixed the connection by 10:13 a.m.
Despite the outage, Parra said the "fill rate" was 90.53 percent, meaning most classrooms that needed subs found them anyway. The number typically hovers close to 91 percent, regardless of network issues, Parra said.
