Principal says leaving Clearwater Fundamental Middle is "one of the hardest experiences"
Dave Rosenberger, principal at Clearwater Fundamental Middle, told his faculty and parents Tuesday that he would be taking over the leadership of Pinellas Park Middle in the coming school year. He sent a poignant message to the school community, saying that leaving was "one of the hardest experiences I have ever had to endure."
Rosenberger has spent his administrative career at Clearwater Fundamental and went through the consolidation several years ago of Coachman Fundamental Middle and Kennedy Middle. He said leaving brought him "great sadness," but that he also was excited about the new challenge.
He heard from some parents who wanted to fight the reassignment. But Rosenberger is asking parents not to. He said gave them this message: "I'm not asking for a battle or a fight. I volunteered to go to Pinellas Park. I'm excited to go to Pinellas Park."
That message was backed up by the PTA, which sent out a letter with this closing:
"We know many might be tempted to contact the district to object to the reassignment of Mr. Rosenberger. However, please understand that this decision was not made without much discussion and consideration. While we are very saddened to see Mr. Rosenberger leave, as is he, we must remember that the educational future of our children at CFMS is still in good hands."
Superintendent Mike Grego, who made the move, said the principal job at Clearwater Fundamental Middle will be advertised publicly and the school community would be involved in the process.
