Principals appointed for two new Pasco County schools
Two veteran district principals have been nominated to lead Pasco County's newest schools, which open in the fall.
Carin Hetzler-Nettles, principal of Wesley Chapel High School since 2009, will lead Cypress Creek Middle-High School on Old Pasco Road. Hetzler-Nettles, 42, has worked in the district since 2000. She was an assistant principal at Mitchell High School before taking over Wesley Chapel, and has gained a strong reputation for adopting innovative programs to help struggling students remain in school.
Cypress Creek Middle-High is expected to open with close to 1,900 students in sixth- through eleventh grades, including many who previously attended Wesley Chapel High.
Vicki Wolin, principal of Seven Springs Elementary School, will lead Bexley Elementary School in the Bexley Ranch subdivision of Odessa. Wolin, 50, has worked in the district since 1989 in various capacities. Seven Springs dropped last year from an A to a D in the state's accountability grading system.
Bexley Elementary is expected to open with close to 850 students, easing crowding at nearby Oakstead and Odessa elementary schools.
Both appointments go before the School Board on Tuesday. If approved, they would take effect Jan. 25. The district has not announced how it will fill the principal posts at Wesley Chapel High or Seven Springs Elementary.
