Saint Paul's School names a new head of school

Saint Paul's School, a private Episcopal school in Clearwater, has named a new head of school.

Samantha Kemmish, a 20-year veteran of private schools, will take the helm July 1. She will replace Nancy Wood, who served as interim head of school. School officials say Kemmish was selected after an "extensive search" by the school's Board of Trustees, with assistance from search consultants.

"We look forward to introducing Samantha and her family to our community," said Sean Maguire, chairman of the board, in a prepared statement.

Maguire described Kemmish as a "creative, passionate" educator.

Kemmish previously served as head of the lower school at Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, Tennessee. Before that appointment, she worked in different jobs at The Lexington School in Lexington, Kentucky. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and history from the University of Kentucky and a master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Saint Paul's School serves students in pre-K to eighth grade, starting at age 3.
