Sand Pine Elementary latest Pasco school to need a new principal

June

Sand Pine Elementary in Wesley Chapel is the latest Pasco County school to need a new principal, as superintendent Kurt Browning has appointed principal Todd Cluff to lead the district's northwest education learning community.

"He is just a beautiful fit into the team," assistant superintendent Amelia Larson said of Cluff, Sand Pine's principal since 2010. "We are very lucky to have him."

Cluff said he initially did not consider applying for the executive director position.

"I've been at the district," he said, speaking of his years in the professional development department. "I love being school based."

But he noted that much of the effort assigned to the learning community leaders is similar to what he's aimed to do at Sand Pine, a school serving a suburban area with high expectations. "We problem solve to get the teachers what they need."

The ad for the Sand Pine principal job will go up on Wednesday, for three days. Assistant principal Karyn Kinzie said she plans to apply.

Larson said she and others had been interviewing candidates for the principal jobs at Fox Hollow and Cypress elementary schools on Tuesday, and told them that they might be considered for other openings including Sand Pine and Longleaf, which are vacant.

Other schools getting new principals in recent months include Pasco, Anclote, Sunlake and Wiregrass Ranch high schools; Crews Lake Middle School; and Seven Oaks, Hudson, Lacoochee, Connerton, Pine View and San Antonio elementary schools.

Additional administrative changes going to the School Board on Tuesday are:
