Snively: I don't need an office either

Hillsborough County School Board member Melissa Snively sent this text Friday morning in respose to Thursday's post about Doretha Edgecomb's opposition to the new school board offices:

"Some of us feel the same way. If I need to have a private conversation and avoid a sunshine violation, I find an empty conference room. We have plenty of them all over the building. Plus, if my constituents want to meet with me, I'm not going to make them drive all the way downtown. Schools have meeting rooms too. We all have cell phones and laptops to stay mobile, like we should be."

Once more, setting the record straight on the cost of the new second-floor offices: The district says it will be $40,000 or less. While the five-year plan lists $600,000 for second-floor renovations, those are largely hypothetical and do not have board approval.
