Sunlake High, Fox Hollow Elementary principals out for next year
Two Pasco County schools with some of the lowest climate survey results in the district will get new principals in the fall.
Sunlake High School principal Garry Walthall, who also faced complaints of discrimination from one of his assistants, is retiring at the end of the academic year. Superintendent Kurt Browning has recommended that Steve Williams, an assistant principal at River Ridge High School, take over the school.
Fox Hollow Elementary School principal Lisa Miller, meanwhile, will transfer to a Title I program specialist position in the district Office of Teaching and Learning. Browning has not named a replacement for Miller.
The moves come to the School Board for approval on Tuesday, at the same time that Browning is asking the board to okay four other principal shifts. Vacancies still remain for the top spots at Seven Oaks, Cypress and Lacoochee elementary schools. Browning already has named new principals at Anclote, Pasco and Wiregrass Ranch high schools; Crews Lake Middle School; and Connerton and Gulf Highlands elementary schools, meaning in his six months he will have named principals for almost a fifth of the district's schools.
Browning is scheduled to bring the rest of his administrative reappointment recommendations to the board on June 18.
