T.G. Taylor, formerly of MacDill AFB, is the new chief of communication for the Hillsborough school district
Reaching from the local community but not from the media, the Hillsborough County School Board hired T.G. Taylor Tuesday as its new communications chief, replacing the long-departed Stephen Hegarty.
Taylor will be paid $134,000 as Chief Community Relations Officer, leading a newly expanded department.
Taylor, who recently moved from the military to the Holland & Knight public relations firm, was director of Communication Plans and Strategy for U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base until November of 2015.
He entered the U.S. Military Academy in 1991, according to his Linked-In page. Between 2005 and 2006 he was Command Information Chief for the Combined Forces Command in Kabul, Afghanistan.
His resume includes a decade of experience speaking on behalf of the military, domestically and overseas. Along the way he earned a Masters of Science in Technical Communication at Colorado State University. He also served as public affairs officer at Fort Carson, Colorado.
In 2011 he transferred to Tampa, where he served as Director of Media Operations at CentCom.
