Three Pasco schools get new principals earlier than planned
Cypress, Fox Hollow and Hudson elementary schools in Pasco County were not supposed to get their new principals until early May.
Plans changed, though, after a few astute parents observed that Hudson -- a school where students continue to perform poorly on state tests -- might be without a full-time leader for close to a month. That shouldn't be the case if the goal is to give the school more attention and resources to turn its results around, they suggested.
District officials agreed. And on Tuesday, they rectified the situation by accelerating the start dates for the new principals at Hudson and the other two schools.
Effective today, Dawn Scilex is the new principal at Hudson Elementary. She replaces Tracy Graziaplene, who moves to the top job at Cypress. Karyn Kinzie, the assistant principal at Fox Hollow, takes the principal post there.
