Gov. Rick Scott's budget proposal for the 2013-2014 fiscal year sets aside $300 million in new university funding, but it breaks down like this:

• $118 million in operating dollars.
• $167 million for performance pay.
• $15 million for the University of Florida.

This was slightly different than what state universities had expected because they were told the $300 million in operating funds cut from their budgets last year would be fully restored. Today, House Speaker Will Weatherford indicated he will side with the universities.

Weatherford, a Wesley Chapel Republican, said the House budget will restore last year's cuts so that every university would get every dollar back that was reduced last year.
