What's the plan for Lacoochee Elementary School?
It's been just over a week since Pasco school district officials announced that all instructional staff at Lacoochee Elementary School would be dismissed and must reapply if they want to remain on the faculty.
The district's move came as it projected that Lacoochee would earn a third consecutive D grade, based on FCAT results, and it had to present a turnaround plan to the Florida Department of Education. District officials called the turnaround model they're proposing the least painful option among five choices, which also included closing the school and converting it to charter status.
After weeks spent discussing the model with the FLDOE, the district submitted its plan on April 30. Some district staff members have said they've never seen the plan that could affect their lives. You can read the plan here. Check it out and let us know what you think.
