The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg has found a temporary home on the former Windsor Preparatory Academy property.

The former St. Petersburg charter school's gym at 5175 45th St N will be leased to run youth camps during school breaks, according to YMCA spokeswoman Ashley Ryneska. It has been named the YMCA Central Campus to help parents locate the camp and register with that location.

No official lease agreement has been signed yet, but the YMCA already has set camp dates:

- Winter Camp 2016: Dec 19th through Jan 2nd. Costs $110 per week

- Spring Break Camp 2017: March 13th through March 20th. Costs $110 per week

- Summer Camp 2017: May 30th - Aug. 4th. Pricing to be determined

The YMCA ran after-school care at Windsor Prep for three years in the gym. Ryneska said the YMCA plans to pursue a renewal of the lease for that space to continue to serve local families.

The defunct Windsor Prep could have been repurposed into to the school district's newest school, but the property's landlord, Joe Rauenhorst, and the school district could not come to an agreement. Rauenhorst sought a lease payment of $994,000 a year or $11.5 million to buy the property, but district officials said they could only pay $250,000 for a lease or $3.5 million to buy the property.
