Like basketball shootouts? You’ll love the next two weekends

For basketball fans, there is no shortage of shootouts or tournaments the next two weekends. Seminole and St. Petersburg are both hosting shootouts on Saturday that feature some of the top-ranked teams in the area.

The National Hoopfest series makes its way to Tampa the following weekend. The tournament, held at Berkeley Prep, is one of the top tournaments in the country and matches teams from the area against nationally-ranked teams from across the country, giving fans a chance to root on their local school as well as check out players who will be playing for major colleges and NBA teams in the future.

St. Petersburg Shootout

When/where: Saturday; St. Petersburg High

Tickets: $6

Schedule: Bradenton Southeast vs. Canterbury, 4 p.m.; Tampa Bay Tech vs. Gibbs, 5:30; Admiral Farragut vs. Lakewood, 7; Sickles vs. St. Petersburg, 8:30

Keith MacCollom Shootout

When/where: Saturday; Seminole High

Tickets: $7

Schedule: Palm Harbor University vs. Sebring, noon; Clearwater vs. Jesuit, 1:30; East Lake vs. Wharton, 3; Seminole vs. Lakeland, 4:30; Largo vs. Robinson, 6; Boca Ciega vs. Mitchell, 7:30

National Hoopfest

When/where: Jan. 19-20; Berkeley Prep

Tickets: $10 for an all-day pass Jan. 19 (available at the gymnasium); $15 for an all-day pass Jan. 20 (tickets can be purchased in advance at nationalhoopfest.com or at the gym).
