Blake's Isaiah Rodgers commits to UMass

Blake’s Isaiah Rodgers announced via Twitter that he has committed to Massachusetts.

“I just followed my heart,” Rodgers said.

The senior defensive back chose the Minutemen over offers from Bethune Cookman, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan Samford and Tennessee State. Rodgers said he will take his official visit to UMass on Jan. 22.

This past season, Rodgers had 34 tackles and four interceptions. He had an even bigger impact on special teams with three blocked field goals, a 35.4 yard average on kickoff returns and a 32.5 yard average on punt returns. He even punted and had seven kicks land inside the 20.

When Rodgers got the ball he could score in a variety of ways. His eight touchdowns came on a runs and receptions, as well as interception and kick returns.

The Minutemen, who finished 3-9 this past season, have 14 players from Florida on the roster.
