Brian Turner out as coach at Sickles
Brian Turner is no longer the head football coach at Sickles High School, athletic director James Harris said Wednesday. Harris did not expand on the reason for Turner’s departure, but did confirm that the former coach is still a teacher at the school.
Turner has had a successful stint with the Gryphons during the past six seasons, coaching them to six winning campaigns, four playoff berths and two district championships. He finishes his career at Sickles with a 50-19 overall record.
This past season, the Gryphons finished 8-3, falling to Lakeland in the region quarterfinals. Defensively, Sickles was better than it’s ever been, posting seven shutouts and holding opponents to an average of just 11.5 points per game.
The job opening has already been posted, Harris said.
