Florida Gators are Tampa Bay's most efficient recruiters
Although we didn’t analyze offers’ effectiveness in Sunday’s breakdown of all 787 college offers in Tampa Bay, it’s hard to imagine a school as efficient with its offers as Florida.
The Gators have offered nine area kids. That’s the fewest of any major state school and less than one-third of the number of prospects USF has offered here (32).
SEC rookie Missouri has offered as many local players as UF. Vanderbilt has offered twice as many.
But the Gators are getting plenty return on their offers. Of UF’s nine offers, four have committed there: DB Vernon Hargreaves III (Wharton), DL Joey Ivie (Pasco), WR Rodney Adams (Lakewood) and DE Jordan Sherit (Hillsborough).
Three UF targets have already committed elsewhere – St. Petersburg Catholic RB Ryan Green (FSU), Jesuit WR Travis Johnson (UM) and Tampa Bay Tech ATH Richard Benjamin (UCF). That leaves two others: Armwood senior safety Leon McQuay III and East Lake junior receiver Artavis Scott.
I’m not sure what Scott and McQuay will decide, but UF’s .444 average in Tampa Bay isn’t too shabby.
